After showcasing the rhythm and elegance of Keralam’s classical, folk and ethnic art traditions before a larger audience, the Onam Tourism Week Celebrations will conclude here on Sunday (August 30, 2026) with the iconic closing-day pageantry.

Vice-President (VP) of India C.P. Radhakrishnan will flag off the procession at 5 p.m. from Lok Bhavan.

Keralam Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan, Tourism Minister P.C. Vishnunadh, Health Minister K. Muraleedharan and Transport Minister C.P. John will attend the ceremony, according to an official statement on Saturday.

The procession will pass through the heart of the city covering Vellayambalam, Museum, Palayam and Statue before concluding at East Fort.

The procession will feature around 69 floats and installations by various government departments that showcase Keralam’s growth as a society, its traditions and culture, and socially relevant issues.

Around 99 art forms rooted in different cultural identities will also be part of the procession.

Traditional folk art forms, including Pulikali, Garudan Parava, and Muthappan Theyyam, will be featured in the procession as part of Keralam’s traditional art forms.

Art performances from Tamil Nadu, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, West Bengal and Telangana will add colour and flair to the grand pageantry. Performances from transgender community are also part of the procession.

There will be traffic restrictions in the city on Sunday due to the procession.

Meanwhile, the police on Saturday said the airspace within a one-km radius of Lok Bhavan has been declared a red zone in view of the Vice-President’s visit to the State.
