Part-time teachers association disappointed over no announcement of regularisation

The Part Time Teachers Association have expressed disappointment on Monday as there was no announcement by the School Education Minister Rajmohan in the Tamil Nadu Assembly regarding the long-pending demand of regularisation of these teachers.

In a statement they said, “The hopes of thousands of part-time teachers who were waiting for a clear announcement to fulfill the promise made in the Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam election manifesto have not yet been fulfilled.”

Stating that the Minister’s announcement that new teachers will be appointed through examinations for 2,700 vacant physical education teacher positions they said, “More than 3,500 physical education teachers are already working as part-time teachers for the past 15 years. This raises the fear that this government has also abandoned us.”

They urged the Chief Minister to take action to make permanent approximately 11,733 part-time teachers working in special subjects, including physical education.
