At least seven people died in a road accident when a private travel bus collided with an auto-rickshaw in Chilakaluripet, Palnadu district of Andhra Pradesh on Thursday (August 27, 2026) morning. The deceased were residents of Veluru village in Chilakaluripet mandal.

The victims had reportedly travelled to Kondamanjuluru to attend a celebration and were returning to Veluru in the auto-rickshaw when the accident occurred.

The travel bus was proceeding from Vijayawada towards Tirupati. Two others injured in the accident were reported to be in critical condition and were shifted to a hospital for treatment.

Transport Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy expressed shock and grief over the accident and said the death of seven people in the collision was extremely tragic. He said it was distressing that precious lives were being lost in road accidents.

“Journeys should take people to their destination, not to their final destination,” the Minister said, expressing his condolences to the families of those who died in the accident.

Mr. Ramprasad Reddy directed officials to take necessary measures to provide better medical treatment to the injured. He also instructed transport officials to take steps to restore normalcy at the accident site.

The Minister appealed to everyone to travel cautiously by strictly following road safety rules.
