Higher Education Minister Basavaraj Rayaraddi has assured to improve infrastructure, strengthen finances, and recruit permanent faculty members for vacant posts across 32 State universities in Karnataka.
In an internal meeting held with the Vice-Chancellors of 32 universities, including Bangalore University, Karnatak University, Gulbarga University and others on Saturday, the Minister discussed important issues plaguing State universities.
Sources in the department stated that the Minister has taken serious note of the vacant posts in the universities. He has assured that at least 1,000 permanent faculty members will be provided this academic year, and a file will be placed before the Finance Department for clearance.
Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellors have also requested more grants to be brought through the Union government, CSR initiatives by private companies, funds from organisations like the Asian Development Bank and others.
They have also urged the Minister for timely payment of scholarships under the SCSP and TSP funds for the higher education of SC and ST students.
