Businessman Veeramani, two other abettors arrested under POCSO Act

Businessman R. Veeramani, 84, and two other abettors have been arrested by the Anti-Vice Squad of Greater Chennai Police (GCP) under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The police said that on October 6, 2025, a man approached an Inspector of Anti-Vice Squad of the GCP and handed over a pen drive, stating that he had received it from an unidentified person who had come to his workplace.

On examining the video in the pen drive, the police found that a minor girl had been sexually assaulted by an elderly person.

Based on the complaint, a case was registered on October 7, 2025. After conducting an investigation, the police ascertained that the person in the video was Veeramani. In a press release, the police said Veeramani had taken a house for rent in Teynampet and entrusted the abettors — Shanthi and her husband Mahendra Simhan — with managing the house.

The police found that he brought several minor girls to the house and indulged in sexual offences. One of the videos containing those acts was seized as evidence. Further searches at the houses of the accused and offices resulted in seizure of important evidence such as photos of a few other minor girls and women.
