A private sleeper bus heading from Bengaluru to Sagar caught fire near Mumbalu village in Sagar taluk early on Thursday. No one was hurt, as the driver and conductor stopped the bus and evacuated the passengers.

Most of the passengers had got off at Shivamogga, and only two were on board when the driver noticed smoke. He stopped the vehicle and ensured that the passengers got down.

Within a few minutes, the bus was gutted. The Sagar Fire Station received information at 5.45 a.m., and the staff rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire. Anandapura police reached the spot and made arrangements for the passengers to reach their destination.
