Ranveer Singh thanks Ambani family for backing Dhurandhar when his films weren't working: ‘Nothing short of a blessing’

Ranveer Singh -starrer Dhurandhar , directed by Aditya Dhar , proved to be a juggernaut at the box office. The two-part franchise broke several box office records and went on to become one of the highest-grossing Indian film franchises in history. Recently, Ranveer Singh thanked the Ambani family for backing the film with conviction through their production house, Jio Studios.

The actor recently made a rare appearance in a Reliance documentary. In the video, Ranveer Singh also expressed his gratitude to the Ambani family for backing the franchise despite all odds, especially at a time when his films weren't particularly working at the box office.

Speaking in the video, Ranveer said, “Dhurandhar was not an easy film to mount, not an easy film to execute. There were several challenges. Danke ki chot par jake to back the film with conviction, knowing that if this pays off, we will be breaking new ground."

He added, “I was given all the love, all the support and all the encouragement. Even at a time when my movies were not doing well. You have ups and downs in career but to have received that kind of support meant a lot to me. It is nothing short of a blessing."

For the unversed, the two-part action spy thriller series, Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar: The Revenge, crossed a historic combined worldwide gross of over ₹ 3,000 crore. The films were written and directed by Aditya Dhar and produced by Aditya Dhar, Lokesh Dhar and Jyoti Deshpande under Jio Studios and B62 Studios.

Apart from Ranveer, the films star Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, Gaurav Gera and Danish Pandor alongside several supporting actors. The films follow an undercover Indian intelligence agent who infiltrates Karachi's criminal syndicates and political power structures in Pakistan in an effort to dismantle a terror network targeting India.

Before Dhurandhar, Ranveer's career was going through a sluggish phase. His films like Jayeshbhai Jordaar and Cirkus didn't work at the box office. Since the actor's previous releases had struggled to make a strong impact commercially, making the success of Dhurandhar particularly significant for his career.

On the work front, Ranveer Singh has begun shooting for his next film, Pralay, a post-apocalyptic action thriller directed by Jai Mehta. Kalyani Priyadarshan has also joined the cast.
