The construction of queue lines for the forthcoming Dasara Sharannavaratri festivities at the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri here began on Sunday with traditional rituals.

As per the annual practice, the temple authorities performed Vighneswara puja at the Vinayaka temple near Canal Road before commencing the works. The rituals were conducted at an auspicious time fixed by the temple’s Vedic committee.

Temple Sthanacharya Vishnubhatla Sivaprasad Sarma led the Ganapathi puja and other Vedic rituals at the Vinayaka temple and near the beginning of the ghat road.

Temple Executive Officer V.K. Seena Naik participated in the rituals and formally launched the queue-line works by breaking a coconut. He prayed for the smooth conduct of the Dasara festivities.

Mr. Seena Naik directed the engineering officials to complete the queue lines, barricades, shelters and drinking-water arrangements within the stipulated time, while maintaining quality standards.

He said the arrangements should be completed without causing inconvenience to the lakhs of devotees expected to visit the temple during the nine-day festivities. The works were being taken up in accordance with the instructions of senior officials of the Endowments Department, he said.
