Andhra Pradesh has secured the top position in the country in patient safety, scoring 86, according to a release from the Department of Health, Medical and Family Welfare.

The department cited details released by the Central government at a programme held in New Delhi on World Patient Safety Day on Thursday (September 17, 2026).

The State completed patient-safety inspections in all 62 hospitals, 53 area hospitals and nine district hospitals, through a self-assessment system, the release said.

Andhra Pradesh also made progress under the National Quality Assurance Scheme (NQAS), with certification reaching 65%, the government said in the release.

Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav congratulated health officials and asked them to further strengthen patient safety and healthcare quality.
