The Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) has issued safety guidelines to organisations installing Ganesha idols at public places, urging them to take necessary precautions during the Gauri-Ganesha festival.
CESC has advised Ganeshotsava organisers not to obtain unauthorised power connections by hooking onto electricity lines. They should approach the concerned CESC sub-division or branch office and obtain a sanctioned power connection.
Organisers should ensure that there are no electrical lines in and around the place where the idol is installed. Pandals and mantaps should not be erected below or close to electricity lines, and adequate safety clearance should be maintained.
Banners and display boards should not be tied to electricity poles or transformers. During the immersion procession, organisers should avoid erecting tall flags and cut-outs that could come into contact with overhead power lines.
If electricity lines pose an obstruction along the route of the immersion procession, organisers should inform the concerned CESC office in advance so that necessary measures, including temporary suspension of power supply, can be taken.
For electricity-related assistance or information, the public can contact 1912.
CESC has assured the public that it will extend necessary cooperation and urged Ganeshotsava committees to follow the guidelines and celebrate the festival safely.
