An 80-year-old man who was allegedly stabbed by two men in Kochi on August 13 has succumbed to his injuries. Mohandas of Murikkumpadam, near Puthuvype, died at a private hospital in Kochi around midnight on Monday, sources close to the family said.
Mohandas had been undergoing treatment after the attack which reportedly occurred after his son, a lawyer, took up a domestic violence case against one of the accused.
According to the FIR registered by the Njarackal police, the accused, Puthuvype natives Duster and Dynaster, allegedly trespassed into Mohandas’s house in search of his son, T.M. Dolgove, who was not present at the time. Mohandas sustained injuries to his chest and neck in the attack.
Both Duster and Dynaster were arrested and remanded following the incident. Police sources said the accused will now be charged with murder.
The final rites of the deceased will be held later at his ancestral house in Cherthala, Alappuzha. The Ernakulam Bar Association condoled the death of Mohandas.
