Two accused absconding for long arrested by Belagavi, Vijayapura police

Belagavi Police arrested a man, who was absconding for over 20 years, for his involvement in several theft cases.

Sagar Pakale, a resident of Ugar Khurd village in Kagwad taluk of the district, was wanted in 11 theft cases.

Police officers of various stations were on the look-out for him for many years.

He was traced using modern technology tools and a tip-off. Someone tipped off an officer in the Kagwad Police Station. Investigation revealed that he was living in Jaitapur village, Satara district of Maharashtra.

In Vijayapura, the police arrested a murder accused who was on the run for 12 years.

Basavaraj Mahalingappa Patil of Mudhol in Bagalkot district was one of the two accused in a murder in Hungund of Bagalkot district in 2009.

He was arrested along with the other accused Shivappa Sangappa Ghulappa.

The court sentenced them to life imprisonment. After serving in the Vijayapura Central Prison, Basavaraj Patil got admitted to hospital in August 2014 but managed to escape from there.

A case was registered in the Gandhi Chowk Police Station in Vijayapura. The court issued an arrest warrant.

Superintendent of Police Laxman Nimbargi constituted an anti-rowdy squad to trace such elements and take legal action.

A team led by Police Inspector Pradeep Talakeri of the Gandhi Chowk Police Station and a team of personnel were assigned to trace the accused.

Their investigation using human intelligence and modern technological tools lead them to the accused.

They learnt that the accused was residing in the village of Siddasamudra in Bailhongal taluk of Belagavi district. He was into farming by taking farmland on lease from Raju Potadar. They arrested Basavaraj Patil on Tuesday and produced him before court.
