English county club Essex release Bangladesh-origin player amid rape case

Essex County Cricket Club confirmed Robin Das, a 24-year-old batter of Bangladeshi origin, is no longer under contract following his suspension and unavailability.

Das faces two rape charges and was granted conditional bail ahead of a five-day trial scheduled for January 2028.

Essex stressed that ending his contract was separate from the ongoing legal proceedings.
