Watch: Two injured after accidental firing at Varanasi Airport

Two people were injured after a licensed pistol carried by an Air India Express passenger accidentally went off during a security check at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi on Sunday, August 16, 2026.

The passenger, travelling to Mumbai on flight IX1810, had declared the weapon.

Police said the pistol fired while it was being inspected, injuring two AAICLAS security screeners.
