Godiva Japan hops into tsukimi season with bunny and moon-themed chocolate assortments

Godiva Japan’s Autumn Collection is inspired by Japan’s seasonal moon-viewing tradition.

Godiva Japan’s Autumn Collection launches nationwide at Godiva shops, cafes, and its online store on August 26 .

In a nod to Japanese folklore that says there’s a rabbit pounding mochi in the moon and the tradition of tsukimi moon-viewing in autumn, the collection features plenty of rabbit and moon motifs in its chocolate lineup.

The full chocolate series includes the following seven decadent autumn-themed treats. ● Dark chocolate with green tea ganache in the shape of a teapot ● White chocolate pecan praline with a crushed speculoos center and outer rabbit details hand-painted in Brussels ● Almond and cashew praline with a hazelnut/powdered sugar outer coating to resemble the full moon ● Dark chocolate walnut and almond praline with pumpkin and orange ganache ● Milk chocolate yellow star caramel made of bittersweet salted caramel and dark caramel ganache ● Milk chocolate almond square in seasonal wrapping ● Dark chocolate fondant (50 percent cacao) square in seasonal wrapping There are also four different sizes to choose from, the smallest being a four-piece box for 1,728 yen (US$10.87) .

It’s the perfect size for a small gift or token of appreciation with its reusable tin and features the adorable bunny and teapot-themed chocolates along with the two varieties of wrapped chocolate squares.

The six-piece box for 3,132 yen adds two more types to the mix: the “full moon” almond and cashew praline and the pumpkin-shaped walnut and almond praline.

The packaging is also different, featuring a scene of two bunnies next to each other against a backdrop of cosmos flowers.

This size is also perfect as a special gift for someone or as a reward for yourself.

Finally, the nine-piece box for 4,212 yen and the 15-piece box for 6,480 yen include the full lineup of all seven types of chocolates with a few duplicates thrown in.

The packaging has changed once again to a scene of two bunnies amid cosmos flowers, hazelnuts, and a larger full moon.

The Godiva Autumn Collection will be available August 26 through October 31.

Godiva suggests popping the chocolates in the freezer to result in an extra crunchy, chilly sensation while eating–a noble strategy as long as you can stop yourself from polishing off the box on the way home.
