Manturov notes strong Indian interest in SJ-100, Il-114-300 aircraft
MOSCOW, August 24. /TASS/. There is strong interest in Russian civilian aircraft in India, Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov said at a meeting of the Russian-Indian Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation.
"We are also working on joint projects in civil aircraft manufacturing. At the beginning of this year, we presented the import-substituted SJ-100 aircraft and the upgraded Il-114-300 turboprop at the Wings India international air show, and they attracted strong interest from Indian airlines," he noted.
Manturov also said that a prototype of a high-speed electric train jointly produced by India and Russia will be assembled by the end of this year, after which serial production will begin.
According to him, industrial cooperation plays a key role in ensuring the technological sovereignty of Russia and India. "In line with this approach, a flagship project in transport engineering is steadily progressing - the development and production of Vande Bharat electric trains. A prototype of the electric train is expected to be assembled at a facility in Maharashtra by the end of this year and, after undergoing testing, will enter mass production," he said.
Indian airlines have indicated demand for up to 200 Russian Il-114-300 and SJ-100 aircraft, Vadim Badekha, CEO of the United Aircraft Corporation, part of Rostec, said in an interview with TASS.
