Situation at Bushehr NPP construction site currently calm — Rosatom CEO

MOSCOW, September 22. /TASS/. The situation at the Bushehr nuclear power plant construction site in Iran is currently calm; however, significantly increasing the Russian personnel at the plant will be possible only after peace agreements between Iran and the US are solidified, Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev has said.

"At the moment, construction efforts are focused on erecting the reactor buildings and turbine halls for two power units. The first operational unit is running at 100% capacity. We are increasing personnel numbers with an eye on the regional situation. Safety comes first. The situation at the site is currently calm. However, we understand that a significant increase in our personnel in Iran will be possible only after peace agreements between Iran and the US are finally solidified," Likhachev said in a statement.

Rosatom is steadily increasing the number of personnel at the Bushehr NPP construction site in Iran; there are currently 63 specialists there, Likhachev said.

"Rosatom is steadily increasing the number of personnel at the Bushehr NPP construction site in Iran. Last night, another 18 specialists joined our team, which is building power units No. 2 and No. 3 together with Iranian contractors. The Russian contingent has reached 63 people," he said.
