Sibur expands polymer supplies to Africa, Southeast Asia

TOBOLSK /Tyumen Region/, September 21. /TASS/. Sibur is expanding supplies of its polymer products to countries in Africa and Southeast Asia, CEO Mikhail Karisalov told reporters.

"We are developing supply channels to Southeast Asia, reaching both coasts of Africa, and we see who our competitors are and that we can be quite competitive," he said.

According to Karisalov, Sibur plans to export part of the output from its new polypropylene production facility with a capacity of 570,000 metric tons at ZapSibNeftekhim in Tobolsk, which is due to be launched in 2027.

"We are confident that the volumes remaining after domestic Russian demand is met can definitely be sold on the global market, even considering overseas projects by other companies. This is because the facility is highly efficient and is in the first quartile. Polypropylene is also one of the most widely produced and fastest-growing plastics in the world, with broad demand ranging from construction to food packaging," Karisalov emphasized.

Sibur is a vertically integrated Russian gas processing and petrochemical company with production facilities in various regions of the country. The company supplies products to customers in the fuel and energy sector, automotive industry, construction, consumer goods manufacturing, chemical industry, and other sectors.
