Jeff Goldblum announced as host of SNL UK’s second series premiere with CMAT
Jeff Goldblum will host the first episode of Saturday Night Live UK season two when it returns to screens this month.
The American actor, 73, will front the British live sketch comedy variety show on September 12, when the musical guest will be Irish singer CMAT .
Oscar-nominated actor Goldblum is best known for his starring roles in the films Jurassic Park, Independence Day and Wicked, and their sequels.
CMAT – real name Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson – has been nominated for a Brit Award for international artist of the year twice.

The British incarnation of NBC sketch comedy show SNL premiered in March, with each episode seeing a different host take to the stage each week alongside the inaugural cast, and a performance from a musical guest.
The series debuted with SNL veteran Tina Fey as host, who was followed by The Fall actor Jamie Dornan, Bait star Riz Ahmed, comedian Jack Whitehall, Derry Girls actress Nicola Coughlan, Sex Education star Aimee Lou Wood, Ted Lasso’s Hannah Waddingham and then Sex Education’s Ncuti Gatwa.
All 11 members of the inaugural cast are returning. They are: Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi and Paddy Young.
Irish singer CMAT will be the musical guest for the first episode (Ian West/PA) PA Wire Broadcast live each week, the show will once again welcome a different celebrity host and musical guest for every episode, alongside topical sketches, live music performances and a British take on the Weekend Update segment.
Saturday Night Live creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels previously said he was “incredibly proud” of the team and the show, which “keeps getting better every week”.
The show’s US version has been running since 1975 and is responsible for launching the careers of the likes of Fey, Bill Murray and Eddie Murphy.
