Champions League draw: Manchester United to face Bayern Munich as league phase fixtures revealed

Manchester United will face Bayern Munich in the league phase of this season’s Champions League .

The Red Devils are back at European football’s top table for the first time in the competition’s current format, and have been handed a tough set of fixtures.

A repeat of the 1999 Champions League final with Bayern is the headline clash for Man United but Michael Carrick’s side will also travel to face Atletico Madrid.

Bayern are one of the favourites to win the Champions League this season and the likes of Harry Kane and Michael Olise will be keen to make their mark on their return to England.

Man Utd will also take on Roma at home and have avoided a trip to Azerbaijan as they will host debutants Sabah at Old Trafford.

The final home game in the league phase will be a special one for Benjamin Sesko as he could face former club RB Leipzig for the first time since joining in a big-money summer transfer over a year ago.

There are tough away trips to Sporting CP and Villarreal, as well as facing Como - managed by ex-Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas. Raphael Varane, formerly of Man United, has been on the board of directors at the Italian club since October 2024.
