Man Utd news: Next signing after Carlos Baleba decided as Myles Lewis-Skelly verdict reached

The wait is over for Manchester United fans. No, not for their latest transfer, but rather for their first Premier League action of the new season.

Another addition might not be too far away, though. Michael Carrick won't have Carlos Baleba in his squad in time for Saturday's lunchtime kick-off against Hull City but progress is being made on a deal for the Brighton star.

Baleba looks set to join Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans among United's midfield options and the Cameroonian might not be the last new addition. There's still more than a week to get deals done and that leaves time for plenty of movement.

We've also got an update on Myles Lewis-Skelly, whose name has been mentioned in connection with a United switch this summer. Here are our latest lines from around Old Trafford.

United are expected to explore a move for a new left-back once they have completed their move for Carlos Baleba, according to the Manchester Evening News . There are still some final touches to be made to the Baleba deal but soon attentions can be turned elsewhere.

Luke Shaw remains United's first choice in the position but the extra toll of Champions League football means there may well be a desire for someone who can provide immediate competition and the quality to succeed the England international in the long-term.

Sky's Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle includes at least 215 live Premier League clashes across the 2026/27 season, with more than 1,500 games from the EFL and beyond, plus F1, golf and darts.

This introductory offer saves £384 compared to the standard price, with every package also providing 100 regular channels alongside free Netflix and discovery+ subscriptions.

Lewis Hall and Jorge Salinas have both emerged as potential targets, while reports in Spain have also pointed to interest in Alejandro Balde of Barcelona . However, unless Newcastle can be convinced to change their hard stance on Hall, United might have to wait for the former Chelsea star.

Mikel Arteta said Myles Lewis-Skelly will "100 per cent" still be an Arsenal player when the transfer window shuts. The comments appear to draw a line under any hopes of a United or Chelsea move for the 19-year-old.

"The players that have been raised in our system, and they feel generally that love and that connection with the club, bring something else, there's no question about that," the manager added. "We need to look after them in a really special way because they bring value that is very difficult to find.

"That's why, when we can, we want to protect those assets as much as possible, develop them and make them extremely important for the club."
