Man Utd news: Alejandro Balde gives transfer green light and announcement imminent

Manchester United could have a busy week in the transfer window. Michael Carrick will need to shift focus back to improving his squad following a dismal away defeat to Hull City .

The Red Devils were beaten 2-0 by the newly-promoted side thanks to goals from Nobel Mendy and Semi Ajayi. Carrick has admitted "disappointment" in the final result but insists the team will get back to their best soon.

He said: "It's just one game, we're disappointed we haven't won. It's not more than that, it's not less than that. We've got to soak it up and come back stronger."

The United boss will add yet another midfielder to his ranks this week after securing a long-term Premier League target. Carrick is also exploring his left-back options as one star says yes to joining the Red Devils.

United have agreed a fee of £70m to sign Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba . A breakthrough in talks happened last Friday with the 22-year-old going for a medical at the weekend.

The club will pay an initial £65m for Baleba plus a potential £5m in add-ons. The Seagulls have also negotiated a sell-on clause for the young midfielder.

The Red Devils registered interest in Baleba last summer but Brighton were demanding more than £100m for his signature. Now, United will secure the exciting talent for £35m less than first quoted and boost their squad with a long-term target.

Alejandro Balde has given his agent, Jorge Mendes, the green light to find him a new club amid links to United. The Barcelona defender was left out of the squad for their clash with Elche on Sunday and it is reported that he is 'most excited' by a move to Old Trafford.

Spanish news outlet Sport claims that Benfica also showed interest in the left-back, but Balde could be looked upon as an alternative to Lewis Hall. The England international was United's primary target but Newcastle are refusing to sell, meaning Carrick has turned his attention to other options.

Balde is valued at around £43m by Transfermarkt and may be the next signing through the door at Old Trafford.
