Daniel Dubois set for Fabio Wardley rematch as date confirmed for world title fight

Daniel Dubois will defend his WBO world title against Fabio Wardley as the pair lock horns once more.

The heavyweights will clash in October at the O2 Arena in a highly-anticipated rematch after Dubois defeated the Ipswich fighter back in May this year .

‘Dynamite’ Dubois survived two knockdowns to stop Wardley in the 11th round at the Co-Op Live Arena in Manchester.

Dubois, who was fighting for the first time since his second loss to Oleksandr Usyk, was knocked to the canvas inside 10 seconds by the challenger.

He was down once more in the third round, but he responded magnificently to regroup and record a 23rd victory of his professional career.

Last time out: Daniel Dubois Getty Now, Wardley will get another crack at him in London in a couple of months’ time after the rematch clause in their contract was triggered.

The second encounter was announced ahead of Moses Itauma’s fight against Filip Hrgovic, with Itauma, just 21, looking to make history and become the youngest heavyweight champion since Mike Tyson.

The pair emerged in the ring before Itauma’s bout, and both took centre stage to announce their next mega-fight.

“The O2 is like a home away from home for me. I’m looking forward to getting straight back into it. It’s going to be a rematch and going to be revenge.

"We came into the fight with all the confidence in the world, but adjustments needed to be made."

Dubois, meanwhile, said: "Another dominant victory. Amazing performance. I can't wait. Let's get it on. it just a war.

"When you get in the water, you're going to get wet. We will see. Give me some of that face to face, boy."
