‘Grand Theft Auto 6: Extended Look’ gives huge streaming boost to soundtrack artists

Featuring on the soundtrack to Grand Theft Auto 6’s ‘An Extended Look’ trailer has given some artists an absolutely giant boost in streaming numbers.

The 26-minute special gave fans an in-depth look at the world of Vice City, dual protagonists Lucia and Jason, as well as several new and improved gameplay mechanics.

The showcase racked up more than 31.1million views in its first few days on Netflix, and was the most-watched show on the streamer in 87 of the 93 countries that Netflix services.

A further 20million people have watched on YouTube. ‘An Extended Look’ featured more than a dozen songs and, according to a new report, they’ve all received a huge boost in streaming numbers – particularly with Gen-Z listeners.

Captain & Tennille’s ‘But I Think It’s A Dream’ saw a 130,730 per cent increase in global streams in the three days after the release of the Grand Theft Auto 6 showcase compared to the week before.

Meanwhile Depeche Mode ‘s ‘80s synth-pop hit ‘People Are People’ saw a 190 per cent global streaming increase alongside a 700 per cent increase in playlist additions.

The report claims that Prefab Sprout saw a 530 per cent increase in Gen Z discoveries after their track ‘Cars And Girls’ was used in the Extended Look trailer, while Cliff Richard saw a 325 per cent increase with Gen Z music fans.

Meanwhile, Rockstar Games has also confirmed the “next evolution” of GTA Online with an official collab with roleplay server nopixel .

In other news, a collection of easy-listening jazz covers of choice cuts from the Super Mario series is getting a vinyl release.
