A week on from their last meeting, Celtic and Rangers renew their rivalry in a quick-fire Old Firm double-header. At Ibrox seven days ago, hosts Rangers wiped the floor with their fiercest rivals in a 3-0 win, sailing into the Scottish League Cup semi-finals at the same time.

That result ended Celtic’s perfect start to the domestic season, and they followed it up with another humbling result in Europe - a 3-1 home loss to Ferencvaros - which has become something of a calling card for the club. So, Martin O’Neill has a big job on his hands to avoid a third dismal defeat in a week.

Rangers have had the week off since seeing off Celtic, a result which changed the mood around the club and Derek McInnes. But with the league the main focus for both these teams, McInnes & Co. must make sure that last week wasn’t a flash in the pan. Follow the game LIVE below with our dedicated match blog, featuring expert insight and analysis.

6min: Celtic think they have lift-off as Trusty volleys home from close range, but Scales is offside when heading back across goal so the party to quickly halted.

5min: Not so good from Fernandez less than a minute later, as he’s into the book for a foul on Duran on the edge of the area.

4min: Straight up the other end, half a chance for Celtic as Duran tries to burst into the box but Fernandez out-muscles him.

3min: Fantastic tackle from Donovan to deny Rangers inside the area. Fast start.

PA The return of Maeda! Daizen Maeda, now at Ipswich, is back to support his former team today.

Getty Derek McInnes speaking to Sky Sports “Just because you win the game doesn't mean it always says you've got the tactics right and, equally, when you lose a game, it doesn't mean it says you've got them wrong.

“I think sometimes tactics can get a wee bit overplayed. I do think you normally win games during the individual moments and the performance of players being really high and really strong.

“We look to do something similar in terms of our approach. We want to make sure the aggression is there, the confidence is there, to play. The energy that we displayed last week, these are all the things that are more important than tactics.”
