Gatwick Airport left with no water as passengers 'can't wash hands in toilets'

Gatwick Airport has been hit by another water outage, leaving passengers unable to wash their hands in the toilets with others turned away from restaurants.

The outage at the North Terminal is understood to have been caused by a burst water main affecting supply to the site.

It comes just weeks after a separate outage left the airport without running water, functioning toilets or access to bars.

On July 26, a water treatment plant in south-east England suffered a power failure, which caused low water pressure and supply problems at Gatwick.

Natasha Nzekwe, who is due to fly to Amsterdam from the North Terminal, said "There's no water at all, you can't even wash your hands in the toilets."

She told the BBC : "If I were on a long haul flight I think it would be worse, not being able to properly wash your hands is frustrating, and they haven't given us any information as to what is going on."

SES Water says it is working to repair a burst main which is affecting supply to the airport.
