Biker killed in Isle of Lewis crash
A motorcyclist has died after a crash on the Stornoway to Ness road on the Isle of Lewis.
The crash involved a silver MG car and a black BMW S1000 RS motorcycle on the A857 near New Park, Newmarket, at about 16:40 on Saturday
Emergency services attended and the 56-year-old male rider was taken to Western Isles Hospital where he died. Nobody else was injured.
Police Scotland said the 44-year-old male driver of the car was arrested in connection with the incident and inquiries are ongoing.
The road was closed for more than 12 hours for investigations and re-opened about 05:00 on Sunday.
Sgt Scott MacDonald said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died as a result of this crash.
"Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or the vehicles prior to contact us , external .
"I would also ask anyone who was in the area and may have dash cam footage that could assist to get in touch."
