M62 traffic - live: Multiple casualties in horror crash as police close motorway

A major motorway has been closed this morning following a serious crash which has left five people injured with one car on its roof.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the casualties needed treatment on the M62 after the crash involved "multiple vehicles".

The motorway near Huddersfield is shut eastbound between junctions 22 and 23 following the collision. National Highways said recovery is being arranged but there are delays of at least 30 minutes on approach.

The agency said: "The M62 in West Yorkshire is closed eastbound between J22 (Denshaw) and J24 (Huddersfield) due to a collision. West Yorkshire emergency services and National Highways Traffic Officers are in attendance."

National Highways has released a diversion route following this morning's incident, asking road users to follow the Hollow Circle diversion symbol.
