Humphries could face Greaves as Littler returns at Czech Darts Open

Luke Humphries will begin his pursuit of a third consecutive Czech Darts Open title against Daryl Gurney or Beau Greaves on Saturday evening; Luke Littler returns to European Tour action for the first time since March in Prague

Beau Greaves faces a showdown with world No 2 and reigning champion Luke Humphries if she beats Daryl Gurney in the opening round of the European Tour's Czech Darts Open.

Humphries beat Kim Huybrechts in the 2024 final and successfully defended his title by defeating Josh Rock last year , with the Englishman now chasing a third consecutive win at the PVA EXPO from September 4-6.

Friday's opening round will see 16 matches take place across an action-packed double session, as Gurney and Greaves renew their rivalry on the big stage in a repeat of last year's World Darts Championship clash.

Greaves averaged 104.88 in defeat to Rob Cross on her European Tour debut last week and eyes a landmark win against Gurney, who prevailed in a five-set thriller when the pair met at the Alexandra Palace, with the winner progressing to face Humphries on Saturday evening.

The top 16 players on the PDC Werner Rankings Ladder will enter the tournament in round two, with world No 1 Luke Littler makes his first European Tour appearance since March's Belgian Darts Open.

The reigning two-time world champion will take on either Niko Springer or Slovakian youngster Martin Homola in his opener, while Dutch No 1 Gian van Veen will await either Niels Zonneveld or Jeffrey de Graaf.

Michael van Gerwen faces a potential all-Dutch tie against Dirk van Duijvenbode, who plays Mario Vandenbogaerde in round one, as Callan Rydz and Cristo Reyes collide for the right to meet sixth seed Gerwyn Price.

Hungarian Darts Trophy champion Ross Smith begins his bid for back-to-back European Tour titles against Joe Cullen or Stephen Burton, with Gary Anderson either taking on World Cup partner Cameron Menzies or Sweden's Johan Engstrom.

Following the conclusion of Saturday's play, the last 16 will play out on Sunday afternoon, before the tournament concludes with the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final in a blockbuster evening session.
