Man Utd news: Left-back transfer priority switches as Chelsea star offered
It's been a busy summer at Manchester United - but it appears their transfer business isn't finished yet. After spending the last couple of seasons strengthening attack and defence, the focus this time around has been on midfield.
The Red Devils have spent roughly £150 million revamping the engine room, bringing in Andrey Santos from Chelsea , Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa and Carlos Baleba from Brighton . However, there are still one or two gaps to plug in the squad, particularly in defence.
United's hunt for a new left back has been well documented, although finding the right player has proved difficult. Newcastle United have insisted Lewis Hall - United's top target - is not for sale, while a move for Barcelona's Alejandro Balde appears increasingly unlikely.
With the summer window entering its final days, here are the latest Manchester United-related transfer headlines.

Manchester United are now exploring a temporary solution at left-back as the transfer deadline draws nearer.
Adding a left-sided defender has become a priority, with Luke Shaw entering the final year of his contract and manager Michael Carrick viewing Patrick Dorgu more as a winger than a full-back.
With moves for their preferred targets seemingly off the table, United's options are looking increasingly limited. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says the club are considering a loan deal for a left-back before the window closes, similar to their decision to bring in Sergio Reguilon from Tottenham in 2023.
"I will not be surprised if they [United] end up with a solution for a player who can be almost a guarantee, so maybe not a superstar name like Balde, because they considered Balde... but the deal is too expensive," he said on his YouTube show.
"But just as a comparison, you remember when United signed Sergio Reguilon? [It will be] something similar. That kind of player, an experienced left-back who can provide competition and also an international profile."
Manchester United have reportedly been offered the opportunity to sign Chelsea centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo.
The 28-year-old Manchester City academy graduate appears set to leave Stamford Bridge this month after being omitted from Chelsea's 3-2 win over Fulham and having his No. 4 shirt handed to summer signing Valentin Barco.
According to talkSPORT , United are keen to add another centre back before the transfer window closes, providing additional cover for Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez and Leny Yoro. The need for defensive reinforcements has been heightened by injuries to Yoro, Martinez and De Ligt.
Tosin could be available for around £20m. The report adds that United also retain an interest in his Chelsea team-mate Josh Acheampong, but the youngster is said to be considered 'untouchable' and Chelsea will not entertain a sale.
