'Bomb' found in North Wales village as houses evacuated before 'explosion'
A bomb squad and police were called to a village in North Wales this week following reports that a suspected ordnance was found in a garage.
Police and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team descended on a residential street in Sychdyn, near Mold , on Friday evening.
A police cordon was erected and a number of homes were evacuated as a result.
Locals reported that the explosives team removed the suspected device.
It is understood that it was taken to a nearby field for a controlled explosion.
One resident told North Wales Live : "A bomb was found in a garage in Sychdyn on the outskirts of Mold.
"The road (Ffordd Celyn) was blocked as well as a the local park whilst officers and EOD investigated.
"The incident lasted around three hours and houses were evacuated nearby.
"I heard they took it to a nearby field to do a controlled explosion."
Another resident said on Facebook : "Well there's turn up, evacuated from our homes on Ffordd Celyn due to a bomb being found in a garage."
