Man Utd vs Brighton LIVE PA Arthur Ferridge , Sports Reporter @ ArthurFerridge 5 minutes ago Manchester United vs Brighton LIVE
There is a full slate of Carabao Cup action on the cards tonight, with Manchester United vs Brighton topping a four-match bill. It is the opening match of both sides’ campaigns in this competition, given their respective European obligations, but the Red Devils have already bettered their attempt from last season, which ended in the second round after an ignominious defeat by Grimsby Town.
Brighton only made it as far as the fourth round last time out, losing to eventual finalists Arsenal, and Fabian Hurzeler will be keen for a sustained cup run. He has his work cut out for him, though, with as many as ten first-team players including Yankuba Minteh and Kaoru Mitoma set to miss out through injury at Old Trafford. The youngster JJ Gabriel will miss out for United, though, after putting in a transfer request.
Tonight’s match will be followed by the draw for the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, where the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool will all find out their next opponents. So too will one of United or Brighton. Follow the match LIVE below with Standard Sport’s dedicated match blog, complete with expert insight and analysis.
