New Lidl £10 lamp similar to £64 John Lewis and £40 Argos versions out next week
Lidl is releasing a new homeware item that could easily be mistaken at a glance for pricier versions from John Lewis and Argos. The budget supermarket updates its Middle Aisle with Special Buy deals every Thursday and Sunday, and a new range of home lighting will be coming out next week.
From Sunday, September 27, shoppers will be able to pick up a new Livarno Cordless LED Table Lamp for £9.99. The lamp shares features with the John Lewis Där Munich Rechargeable Outdoor Table Lamp (£64) and the Argos Osram Endura Style Stan Table Light (£40).
The product description for Lidl 's £9.99 lamp reads: "Cordless lamp with touch dimmer function. With a replaceable Li-Ion battery and a replaceable LED module. Splashproof (IP44). Pleasant, glare-free warm white light. Central on/off switch to reduce the load on the battery. With two height settings." Shoppers can choose from either black, copper or beige.
At their core, all three lamps solve the exact same problem. They are cordless, rechargeable LED table lamps designed with a glare-free, cosy ambient glow. They feature modern touch-dimming so you can adjust the brightness, and are splashproof, meaning they can be used outside and light drizzle won't shouldn't ruin them.
However, the biggest difference is the price gap. Lidl ’s budget-friendly Livarno version comes in at a highly accessible £9.99. Meanwhile, the premium Där Munich lamp sold at John Lewis retails at £64.00, and the Argos version costs £40.
The John Lewis option is crafted from heavy-duty die-cast aluminium with a powder-coated finish, built to withstand the elements and feel like a permanent piece of premium designer furniture. Its weather rating is also slightly higher.
On the flip side, Lidl’s lamp relies on lightweight materials. But it does offer a unique bonus: its height can be adjusted up to nearly 42 cm, and it features a replaceable battery and LED module to extend its lifespan.
Meanwhile, the Argos lamp offers a durable aluminium build similar to the John Lewis lamp, but adds tech upgrades that neither Lidl nor John Lewis offers. Specifically, the ability to change the light tone from cosy warm white to bright daylight, and an internal memory that remembers your last dimming level.
Lidl will also be releasing a Livarno Side Table Set for £19.99. Lidl says: "In a modern design – versatile. In four different sizes. Metal frame. With floor friendly feet."
There is also an acupanel-style side table for £19.99. The supermarket says: "Contains 100% FSC-certified wood. Modern design with a natural wood effect. Lift-top design with ample storage. Tabletop and slats with an easy-care melamine resin coating. Sturdy powder-coated steel frame."
