Woman, 22, died of head injury after skydiving accident - inquest hears

A 22-year-old woman died from a head injury after a skydiving accident, an inquest has heard. Madeleine Trask died after the incident at Langar Airfield on July 5, which saw police, firefighters and paramedics called to the scene.

The experienced skydiver was found in a nearby field and pronounced dead. An inquest into her death opened at Nottingham Coroner’s Court, hearing that a provisional cause of death has been given as a head injury.

The hearing has now been adjourned, with a date for the full inquest yet to be set. Following Madeleine’s death, a statement released by Skydive Langar said: “We are deeply saddened to confirm that a fatal incident occurred at our centre today involving an experienced skydiver.

“The entire team at Skydive Langar is devastated by this tragic loss. Our immediate thoughts, deepest condolences, and full support are with the skydivers family, friends, and everyone within our close knit community who has been affected at this incredibly difficult time.

British Skydiving - the national governing body for the activity in Great Britain and Northern Ireland - subsequently confirmed that a board of inquiry would be convened to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.

The body said: “We recognise that incidents such as this can have a profound impact on those involved, those who witnessed the event, and the wider skydiving community.”

According to Madeleine’s LinkedIn profile, she started work in the café at Skydive Langar in May 2023 before working as a parachute packer from summer 2025 onwards.
