Ismaila Sarr: Why Liverpool transfer target will not be in Crystal Palace squad for Man City clash
Ismaila Sarr will miss Crystal Palace ’s first home game of the season against Manchester City, amid links to Liverpool and Galatasaray.
Palace welcome Man City to Selhurst Park on Friday night hoping to bounce back from defeat to Everton on the opening weekend of the new Premier League campaign.
Sarr was a shock high-profile absentee from Palace’s matchday squad at the Hill Dickinson Stadium and it came after Galatasaray were reported to have tabled an offer for his services worth around £30million.
It was later revealed that the 28-year-old had been complaining of a groin problem and did not train in the two days leading up to the Everton game.
And it’s the same groin issue that will keep Sarr sidelined for the visit of Man City.
“Ismaila Sarr is in individual sessions,” Pierre Sage confirmed. “He is in pain with his groin – that’s why you didn’t see him [train] with us today.
“But we’ll prepare him – he needs time. I thought it would be quicker but I am not medical [staff] – that’s why I wait for him, and we’ll prepare him to come back with us.”
Ruled out: Ismaila Sarr Getty It remains to be seen if Sarr will still be a Crystal Palace player after the summer transfer window closes on September 1.
In addition to Galatasaray, Liverpool have made checks on Sarr, though no bid or formal talks have taken place so far.
The Reds have reportedly agreed a deal in principle for Paris Saint-Germain star Bradley Barcola , but are on the market for two wide attackers before the end of the transfer window.
