New Lidl £15 item similar to £200 John Lewis and Selfridges versions out Sunday

Shoppers keen to get their wardrobes ready for autumn, now that rain has returned to the UK, may be interested in Lidl's latest Special Buy . A new batch of clothing items will be landing in stores this Sunday, August 23, as part of the store's next Middle Aisle update.

Available for £14.99 for those with the Lidl Plus app, or £17.99 for those without, Lidl will be bringing out its Esmara Ladies' Trench Coat in three different colours: beige , khaki and black . Many will agree that t rench coats can be ideal for summer and autumn , as their lightweight, breathable materials and relaxed fit provide protection from unexpected rain and chilly winds without causing overheating.

As autumn approaches, they can provide the right middle-ground warmth for crisp, chilly mornings and cooling days. Their roomy fit often lets you layer them comfortably over hoodies, scarves, and jumpers.

Lidl's Esmara Ladies' Trench Coat comes in three sizes: small, medium and large. They feature an "oversized style", side pockets and a detachable tie belt.

In the product description, Lidl says: " Water-repellent outer fabric thanks to Bionic-Finish Eco technology . Wide lapel collar and double-breasted button fastening with inside button. Adjustable sleeves with tabs. Back vent for freedom of movement."

Some people may argue that the trench coat looks more expensive than it really is. Selfridges, John Lewis and Next are all selling certain versions that share similar features with Lidl's. For those who like the look of the high-end options but would prefer not spending more than they need to, Lidl's more affordable alternative may be of interest.

Selfridges is selling Whistles' Riley Belted Woven Trench Coat in black for £199. Similar to Lidl, the relaxed fit coat has long sleeves with belted cuffs, a tie belt, buttons at the front, a wide lapel collar and shoulder detailing.

Besides the price, the main differences are the material, as Lidl's is 100% polyester, and the Whistles' version is 8% polyester and 92% viscose, and the fact that Lidl's coat comes with an extra pair of buttons across the chest.

As for the £14.99 Lidl khaki trench coat, John Lewis is also selling another Whistles Riley Trench Coat in Khaki for £199, which shares similar detailing and design. The product description reads: "Cut to a mid-length, it comes with all the features you'd expect from your typical trench - a double-breasted front with a tie fastening that will define your waist. Style yours with everything from casual separates to printed dresses."

The beige version of Lidl's £14.99 coat also shares similar features to Next's Threadbare Stone Double Breasted Longline Trench Coat , which costs £68. Like Lidl's option, Next's coat is 100% polyester and could be easily mistaken for the pricier alternative, but there is a difference in the number of buttons.
