Man Utd 'break rules' in Hull City nightmare as Premier League reach decision

Manchester United have broken Premier League rules on the opening game week of the season after failing to display the competition’s badge on both arms. United are looking for a new sleeve sponsor after their previous deal with DXC Technology expired, worth £20m per year.

Premier League rules state that clubs without a sleeve sponsor should have the competition's badge on display on both arms, while United only had the logo on one sleeve during their 2-0 Premier League defeat to Hull City .

The Daily Mail claims Michael Carrick's side were given a polite reminder of the rule by the Premier League and that badges will be on both sleeves for their clash with Ipswich Town this weekend.

Mirror Football has also contacted United for comment, while the Premier League would not comment when approached.

It was an afternoon to forget for United, who were comfortably beaten by Premier League new boys Hul l on their return to the top flight.

Many had predicted the Tigers would be beaten by the Red Devils, but goals from Semi Ajayi and Nobel Mendy gave the hosts a deserved three points.

United captain Bruno Fernandes gave a scathing review of the defeat at the MKM Stadium post-match and said: "Every away game we give too much of the ball to them. In the first 20 minutes, the goalkeeper was the one with the most touches.

"We needed to press more, be more aggressive, and then again we need to work on set plays and not concede these types of goals. Against these types of teams, they are waiting for that moment."

The Portuguese international has vowed United will put things right this weekend. He told the Press Association: "We are three points behind what we wanted to be and we have a huge game on Sunday to play at home.

"First one for our fans with a long wait after the summer, so we want to make it right and get the three points.

"Our aim was to get back into the Champions League . Obviously, we know the aims of this club is never just that, but last season was a very good season for us.

"Now it’s just about improving and getting higher and higher on the table."
