London fire live: Bermondsey blaze involves 50 tonnes of waste
Huge flames and clouds of smoke can be seen coming from a major fire in south-east London on Tuesday evening.
The London Fire Brigade said 15 fire engines and around 100 firefighters are responding to a fire at a waste facility on Landman Way in Deptford/Bermondsey. Local residents have been urged to keep windows and doors closed.
National Rail says it is expecting disruption at London Bridge until the end of the day due to the fire, with services possibly "cancelled, delayed or revised".
In an update from National Rail the service has said that services are expected to be disrupted until 3am.
The fire continues to burn and there has not been further update from LFB.
National Rail warned earlier that rail services would be impacted until the end of the day.
The fire involves around 50 tonnes of household waste stored at the waste facility.
Passengers have been stuck on a train from London Bridge to Sidcup with no power for over two hours. They have said it is a 'shambles' as there are no toilets working.
A spokesperson for South Eastern Railway said: "We're hoping to have this train on the move shortly; the fire brigade has sufficiently controlled the fire that we can run on some lines from London Bridge, and we're now awaiting power to be restored."
The fire means all lines are blocked between London Bridge / Canada Water and New Cross / New Cross Gate.
According to National Rail as a result, trains between these stations may be cancelled, severely delayed by up to 100 minutes or revised.
People have been asked to avoid the area and keep their doors and windows closed where possible because of the large amount of smoke.
A local resident said he first spotted the blaze while cycling home. He told the BBC: "I was coming back from Tescos and I could see the smoke from the road.
"We cycled back to mine and realised it was just across the road... it's pretty mental."
