'Play Harder': Garmin has stealthily scheduled a YouTube live event, presumably to launch the Fenix 9 — here's when and how to watch

Garmin has scheduled a YouTube live event Titled 'Play Harder', it's scheduled for 25 August at 12:00pm BST (4am PT / 7am ET / 9pm AEST) It's likely to be the launch of the Garmin Fenix 9 Garmin has scheduled a live event on YouTube, without much fanfare.

Titled 'Play Harder', the event — we're not sure if this is a live event, or merely a trailer or series of trailers for another of the best Garmin watches — is scheduled to go live at 12:00pm BST.

For America, that translates to 4:00am Pacific Time (sorry) or 7:00am Eastern Time.

For Australian watchers, it's a slightly more reasonable 9:00pm AEST.

Garmin doesn't normally schedule live events to announce new products — as far as I know, this is a first.

So to schedule a live event to generate some build-up, presumably culminating in a public product reveal, means whatever's coming has to be pretty special indeed.

Fenix rising (Image credit: Future / Matt Ray) It may well be a slate of new products Garmin are announcing, but the star of the show is sure to be the Fenix 9.

The Garmin Fenix 9 has been rumored to launch in the second half of 2026 for months, and recent retailer leaks suggest a launch is now imminent.

We're expecting to get three new kinds of Fenix: a standard AMOLED Fenix 9, like the Garmin Fenix 8 before it, and two different kinds of Pro watch: one with InReach satellite messaging connectivity, and one without, plus solar charging options.

The Garmin Fenix 8 Pro launched around a year after the original, but Garmin seems to be dropping the whole range at once this time around.

We've not heard much around the Garmin Enduro 4, the latest version of Garmin's massive watch line that promises near-infinite battery on sunny days.

It could launch with the Fenix 9, as the Enduro 3 did with the Fenix 8, or Garmin could be saving it for a rainy day (well, we hope not, or the solar charging won't work!).
