From pick’n’mix to Midnight Margaritas, the Brits brewing up a taste of movie magic

It’s the season for witchy fashion, cosy vibes and Midnight Margaritas in the kitchen.

As Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock return as the Owens sisters in Practical Magic 2, Brits are bringing the enchantment home with a wave of “snack-stalgia” Nearly two-thirds (62%) say great food and drink are the essential ingredients for a special movie night, according to research by SharkNinja.

For 54%, the right snacks can instantly transport them back to childhood cinema trips . That figure rises to 69% among 25 to 34-year-olds, who are most likely to recreate the treats they enjoyed growing up.

Reasons include bringing back memories of “happier or simpler times” (41%) and giving emotional comfort (38%).

There is also a trend to recreate iconic film moments in real life, including the epic Midnight Margarita scene from the two Practical Magic movies.

Iced drinks in general are part of the ritual for one in four Brits with blue raspberry coming out as the nation’s favourite slushy flavour, followed by Cola and strawberry.
