Johnny Marr takes on “assholes with dodgy views” on fiery new single ‘It’s Time’

Johnny Marr has shared his new single ‘It’s Time’, which sees him take on “assholes with dodgy views”.

So far, Marr has already shared ‘Spin’ and ‘ Ophelia ‘. ‘It’s Time’ sees Marr take on cynicism and corruption, with him explaining of the track: “’It’s Time’ is my way of singing about some worldly issues but finding defiance in idealism.

“I wanted a lyric that matched the exuberance of the music but is actually about resisting cynicism and corruption: “ Everybody ain’t making it, change the weather and breaking it.

Mobilise to know the truth.

Open eyes to know the truth .” I guess it’s about the assholes with dodgy views,” he added.

The music video for ‘It’s Time’ was filmed earlier this year at Johnny’s biggest headline show of his solo career – his sold-out homecoming gig at Manchester’s Castlefield Bowl .

Check it out below. ‘The Age Of Everything’ will follow on from the musician’s 2022 album ‘Fever Dreams Pts 1–4’ .

In a four-star review, NME hailed the latter as “a soulful record fuelled by fresh ideas”.

Last year saw Marr drop a new live LP, ‘Look Out Live!’ .

The project comprises 22 tracks recorded at the Eventim Apollo in London as part of his ‘Spirit Power’ live tour in 2024.

More recently, he contributed to Gorillaz ‘ latest album ‘The Mountain’ , and made an appearance with the band in London last September .

Marr worked on the star-studded ‘Help(2)’ charity album for War Child , too.
