New Lidl's £13 'stylish' dining room item similar to £70 Next version out Sunday
Budget supermarket Lidl has introduced a new home decor item that costs less than £15 and closely mirrors a designer rug from high-street retailer Next . As part of an upcoming Special Buy refresh in its Middle Aisle, Lidl is bringing out a new range of 'Home and Living' products this weekend.
Starting Sunday, September 27, bargain hunters can browse the store's new Livarno Blue Rug . It will go on sale for £12.99. Lidl says the rug is "perfect for your living room , bedroom or dining room".
The product description adds: "In a stylish vintage design. High quality with bound edge. Soft and comfortable pile." The Lidl rug is also "suitable for use with underfloor heating".
Its weight per square metre is 960gsm. It is also 80cm wide and 150cm long. It is made from 100% polyester. This type of material is easy to clean and maintain. Polyester fibres do not absorb water easily, meaning most water-based spills, sweat, and everyday dirt sit on the surface and wash out with little effort.
The Livarno Blue Rug shares a highly similar aesthetic with Next’s Shabby Chic by Rachel Ashwell Blue Skylark Rug , which is the exact same size. The high street fashion store's version costs £70.
It is down to shoppers to decide which design they prefer and how much they want to spend. However, by opting for Lidl's version, customers could get a similar look but for less.
Both products feature a distinctive vintage-inspired design, using soft, muted light blue tones and a distressed, faded pattern. This makes both rugs ideal for traditional, rustic, or coastal-themed home interiors.
However, the two items differ significantly in their material and price point. The Next Skylark rug is crafted from a traditional 100% cotton flat weave and requires professional dry cleaning. In contrast, the Lidl Livarno rug is constructed with a soft, lightweight pile and bound edges, making it suitable for homes with underfloor heating.
The biggest difference for shoppers is the cost. While the Next designer version retails at £70, the Lidl alternative offers a heavily discounted price point, providing an accessible option for budget-conscious homeowners looking to achieve a premium interior look for less.
Of its £70 rug, Next says: "Create a high-end vintage feel to your living space with the Skylark rug by Shabby Chic by Rachel Ashwell. Made from 100% cotton yarn in a traditional cotton flat weave for a lasting finish. Designed in a classic Persian pattern, with muted tones featuring subtle highlights of contrast colour. Seamlessly mix and match with the other Shabby Chic by Rachel Ashwell home accent styles."
