‘KPop Demon Hunters’ is getting a special director-approved Criterion 4K UHD and Blu-Ray release

The Criterion Edition is releasing KPop Demon Hunters on special edition Blu-Ray and 4K Ultra HD physical discs, with pre-orders now open.

The Netflix animated film follows the adventures of girl group HUNTR/X as they balance K-Pop stardom by day with demon hunting at night.

The film remains the streaming service’s most watched movie ever, with a sequel and live concert tour in the works.

Now, the movie has been added to the prestigious Criterion Collection, which remasters cherished films and releases them with director-approved exclusive extras.

Details of the extras are yet to be announced, but a December 31 release is planned, and the film is available for [pre-order in the US here and in the UK here .

Criterion shared the exclusive cover art for the disc, which is an illustration of HUNTR/X alongside beloved supporting character Derpy, a supernatural tiger who has become a cult favourite among fans of the film.

It’s a mark of the film’s monumental success that it is now listed alongside classics such as Pixar’s Wall-E and Oscar winner Flow .

Recently Ejae, who provided the singing voice of the character Rumi in the film, talked about how she was distracted while performing at the BAFTAs after seeing Leonardo DiCaprio in the crowd.

“The BAFTAs haunt me,” she told The Times.

“I made mistakes.

I cracked a little bit on the high notes.

Leonardo DiCaprio was [in the audience] right in front of me and he was not smiling.” She pointed to a high note she had to perform during the song ‘Born To Be’ as the moment the Oscar winner affected her.

“That’s what put me off,” she recalled.
