Baby girl dies at home in Atherstone as man and woman arrested for 'child neglect'

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of child neglect following the death of a baby girl in Warwickshire.

Warwickshire Police said officers were called to "reports of a one-year-old girl in cardiac arrest" at a home in Long Street, Atherstone, at around 11.50am on Friday.

A man and a woman have been arrested and remain in custody, police said.

A partial road closure is in place on Long Street, with a heavy emergency services presence in the area, Coventry Live reports.

The force added: "We know many will find this news upsetting. Officers will be in the area for the time being - please speak with them if you have any concerns."
