Viral video of jets buzzing DHL Stadium in Cape Town prompts aviation safety investigation

Last week, fans at a rugby match between South Africa and New Zealand got a show before the opening... uh... however it is that rugby matches start when a pair of Embraer E-Jets flew over the stadium .

Barely over the stadium.

Video of the moment quickly went viral , and it left a lot of people thinking, "Hey, that was very cool, but it seems like that may have been a little too low." CLICK HERE FOR MORE OUTKICK SPORTS COVERAGE Well, despite some evidence that these low flyovers have happened before in South Africa, the stadium tower buzzing is now under investigation.

"It is therefore critical that we interrogate this past weekend’s events … to determine if there were any safety concerns which warrant a review," The South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) said in a statement, per the Associated Press.

The flyover came just before the start of a match in the "Rugby's Greatest Rivalry" series that pits the Springboks against the All Blacks in matches around the world.

This one in particular was in Cape Town and featured the two Airlink-operated jets flying over the city's DHL Stadium.

The airline was reportedly set to do another flyover at a match in Soweto, but has dropped those plans.
