This past July, "Sunday Morning" reported on concerns voiced by staff members at Stars and Stripes (a publication partly funded by the Department of Defense) regarding its editorial independence.

On Friday, the Pentagon fired the paper's editor-in-chief, publisher, and a reporter. [The separation notices are subject to appeal.] Steve Hartman has the details.
