Dolly Parton’s Niece Explains Why Country Legend Wanted to Keep Cancer Diagnosis Secret: ‘She Never Wanted to Worry Anybody’

Dolly Parton ‘s niece, singer Jada Star, feels like a lot of people do these days about the loss of the country icon last week at age 80 following what her spokesperson said was a brief battle with an undisclosed form of cancer.

“I can’t remember a life without her in it,” said Star, 47, the daughter of Parton’s younger sister, Freida.

“She would also tell us to start drying it [tears] up and start trying to get back to work and love each other real hard.” The singer was on hand on Saturday (Aug.
