Netflix Sets Lee Jung-eun, Kim Moo-yul for Korean Action-Noir Series ‘The Shooter’

Netflix is adding to its already-packed Korean content slate with The Shooter , an action-noir series starring Lee Jung-eun and Kim Moo-yul. Revealing the project Wednesday, the streamer shared a photo of the cast from a recent table read in Seoul (above).

Netflix says the series will mark the first action role for Lee, a character actor staple of critically acclaimed Korean films like The Attorney (2013), The Wailing (2016) and Bong Joon Ho’s multi-Oscar-winning Parasite . The veteran actor is coming off My Daughter Is a Zombie , which was the highest-grossing Korean film of 2025, with $38 million in ticket sales. Kim, meanwhile, starred earlier this year in Netflix’s Teach You a Lesson , which ranked among the streamer’s 10 most-watched shows worldwide during the first half of 2026, drawing 48 million views. The Shooter reunites the pair four years after they appeared together in Netflix’s Juvenile Justice . Directed by A Shop for Killers helmer Lee Kwon, The Shooter follows Jeong Suk-ja, a woman in her seventies living an ordinary life until an attack on her grandson sends her back to using a gun — something she hasn’t held since her youth. Hunting down the truth pulls her deeper into the secrets of the powerful Chunghwa Group — and into an unlikely partnership that complicates everything she thought she knew.

The ensemble also includes Huh Joon-ho as the former head of a criminal gang who has become chairman of Chunghwa Group, along with Choi Sung-eun, Bae Na-ra, Seo Hyun-woo and Moon Jong-won. Kim Hee-su wrote the series, which is produced by Studio Dragon.

The Shooter joins a packed Korean slate at Netflix. Mystery thriller Mousetrap , starring Ryu Jun-yeol, Sul Kyung-gu and Lee Kyoo-hyung, premieres Aug. 28, followed by the Joseon-era drama The Scandal , starring Son Ye-jin, Ji Chang-wook and Nana, on Sept. 18. On the film side, Lee Chang-dong’s high-profile drama Possible Love , starring Jeon Do-yeon, Sul Kyung-gu, Zo In-sung and Cho Yeo-jeong, will premiere in competition at the Venice Film Festival early next month before a Korean theatrical release on Sept. 23 and its global Netflix launch on Nov. 6.
