Barbra Streisand Sends Rosie O’Donnell Sweet Message Amid ‘Kimmel’ Guest-Hosting Gig: ‘Welcome Home!’

Rosie O’Donnell’s return to late-night television just got a meaningful stamp of approval from one of her longtime idols: Barbra Streisand .

During O’Donnell’s guest-hosting stint on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week, Streisand reached out with a short but incredibly sweet message to celebrate the comedian’s return to television.

O’Donnell shared a screenshot via Instagram on Thursday (Aug.

20), giving her audience a peek at the unexpected note.

“Be still my heart — she is a class act — what a way to finish my week on Kimmel!!!” O’Donnell wrote alongside the screenshot, adding the hashtags “#love” and “#barbra.” Streisand’s message carries some extra weight considering just how much O’Donnell has admired her over the years.

The two have shared a memorable history dating back to the comedian’s days hosting The Rosie O’Donnell Show , when Streisand appeared as a guest.

O’Donnell has previously spoken about how significant that interview was to her, making the singer’s encouragement all the more special now.

O’Donnell has spent this past week behind the Jimmy Kimmel Live! desk while Kimmel takes a break, stepping in as guest host from Monday through Thursday.

Her guest-hosting run included appearances from stars including Hannah Waddingham , Jean Smart, Richard Gadd, Charlie Day and Janelle James, with O’Donnell putting her own unmistakable spin on the typical late-night structure.

“Welcome home” is a fitting nod because of O’Donnell’s television history.

She became one of the biggest personalities on TV through The Rosie O’Donnell Show , which made her a daytime staple in the 1990s and early 2000s.
