Austin is known as one of the best music cities in America, which is why it’s the ideal launchpad for UMusic’s first U.S. hotel. The five-star resort will feature 150 guest rooms and 600 private residences, and the crown jewel will be the White Rocks Amphitheater, an outdoor music venue that puts a Texas spin on Colorado’s iconic Red Rocks Amphitheater.

An affiliate of Universal Music Group, UMusic’s first hotel in Madrid combines luxury travel , music, and culture in an innovative way. The Madrid location is situated on top of the historic Albeniz Theater, but the new Austin location looks like an even more ambitious leap. Rather than converting an existing structure, UMusic Hotel & Private Residences Austin is an entirely new project set in the natural landscape and surrounded by the Live Music Capital of the World. The Texas Hill Country surrounds the 10,000-seat open-air theater, which derives its name from the limestone bluffs that surround the city.

According to White Rocks Entertainment, the project aims to create a cohesive music experience by drawing inspiration from legendary venues like Red Rocks and the Hollywood Bowl, finally bringing together the music spirit that has long been scattered throughout Austin’s various local studios and bars. And, because Texas gets hot, there are plenty of indoor amenities too. The hotel will feature a more intimate interior performance venue, plus spaces for artists to gather, including recording and content studios.

Additionally, there will be a nightclub, comedy club, restaurants, and a spa and wellness center. The wellness center features amenities like a weight training room, steam room, sauna, and salt bath. The inclusion of private residences also sets it apart from the average destination, with UMusic positioning the new location as a permanent home with more than 600 condominiums, not just a stop for the weekend. The project also includes a large Las Vegas-style beach club.

As for the architecture, it features a strikingly modern design. Because of the large-scale construction involved, UMusic emphasized the sustainability aspects of the compound. UMusic has designed the project to be the first large development to meet the city’s 100% water reuse goal, and the hotel will also utilize native landscape restoration and an energy-saving microgrid.

White Rocks recently announced a permanent endowment, a first-of-its-kind funding model designed to provide support for Austin’s performing arts scene. They also announced the White Rocks Collab, an artist development and performance venue which will be a permanent downtown outpost of White Rocks . The Collab will provide artists with creative and career development support and a live performance space.

“Our vision is to create places where culture is made, shared, and celebrated.
